Never say never!

I always claim myself as a practical person making only functional items. And what is it? A dust collector! Five of them!



It was an accident actually... In one felter blog I saw apples and pears which were purely wet felted not needle felted as you see usually. No secret were revealed, so I've spent couple of days trying and here we are!

Three pears and two apples, all are wet felted using flat resist. I am quite please with the result!

Rainbow Fish

Ooops! It's been awhile, nearly a month! Sorry for a long absence, been busy with a family staying... Still try to make some things for a Tockwith Show in August. So here we are - a new fish!



Rainbow fish? Some new things tried - handmade prefelt with cut holes to show a bright background. Eyes were so awful at first that I tore them off and needle felted nice ones instead.

Sheila Smith Workshop

Yesterday I was on Sheila Smith workshop. It was about using stretched prefelt, laminated with silk chiffon, and creating decorative edges. The result is very pleasing, even on these mediocre pictures you can see how soft and delicate my scarf is! I used prefelt made of silk/merino blend and both prefelt and silk were hand dyed in matching colours.

Ray Fish

This is my second cushion, as a Ray Fish!



Very much the same technique and the same resist:

Very Fishy Cushion

I wanted to make a cushion for ages! What stops me - details mainly. What shape and size, how to deal with opening and so on... But eventually I am there!



It's circular inside with solid fins. Wool is merino mainly but of different grades and quality (all my leftovers used!), silk noil in circular details, merino/silk blend on fins, piece of dark blue silk fabrik on the top (to reduce pilling).

This is the bottom and how I dealt with opening - 3 large snaps.



The weight is 130 g.

I like it and am going to make more! Watch this place!

New Glass Cases

I make eyeglass cases. I make them a lot. They are all different even if motives are similar, I can't make identical copy in felting! Not sure it's possible at all!

Yes sometimes they look alike and I don't want to overload my blog with the countless pictures of my glass cases... But these two are different for me and I think they are good. Worth showing!

Baby Shark

Usually my felted fish are unidentifiable but this one looks somewhat sharkish!



I am quite happy with the shape and the colour but a long tail and awkward shape made felting a bit difficult. I need to think how to deal with some technical problems...
