Start of a new year

How do you start a new year? I started with a few wool orders :) ! Have no idea where to put it but hope it will start me going.
The first order has just arrived:
A few large batts from a Bulgarian supplier
I have two scarves to show, the first I made at workshop December last year and finished last week. Double sided, very delicate, with plenty of hand dyed silks and luxurious fringe. Love it!

Another one just finished - some variation of crazywool wraps I made last year: pre-yarn, some merino and silks again. Going to make more of them!

Xmas Boot

I wanted to make a small Xmas boot, smth like this Xmas stocking. Here is a template/resist:
To make a decor I found this silk scarf with very appropriate design - baubles and ribbons. No idea where I've got it from!
I wanted to decorate the cuff only:
I cut out the design to make a border and used a rather coarse carded wool as the top layer because the silk was quite densely weaved, it's not a fine chiffon or ponge silk:
 The final size:
Oops!..Could you see any bauble here? Neither could I...
Never mind, it'll serve its purpose! Next time (if!) I will do it differently.

                            Merry Christmas everyone!

New Design

I started to slow down last week, too late to make and sell smth for Xmas... But it's never too late just to try and make smth new!
Dandelion Flowers Kindle Case

I've tried a new design with images of spent dandelions. New colour scheme as well, very bright and cheerful!   And I use a new wool (very thin pensil roving) for stems, it worked quite well.

I'm going to keep this desing, changing and improving.

New Glass Cases

I make eyeglass cases. I make them a lot. They are all different even if motives are similar, I can't make identical copy in felting! Not sure it's possible at all!

Yes sometimes they look alike and I don't want to overload my blog with the countless pictures of my glass cases... But these two are different for me and I think they are good. Worth showing!

Baby Shark

Usually my felted fish are unidentifiable but this one looks somewhat sharkish!

I am quite happy with the shape and the colour but a long tail and awkward shape made felting a bit difficult. I need to think how to deal with some technical problems...

Laptop Case

I've not posted for ages! Not that I did nothing but I made no pictures of anything, sorry! I've finished laptop case for my husband though...

The choice of colour was his and it's not a carrier just a protective case.

As you can see it's quite large and very simple design so needed to be perfect. I make these carved letters as the only decor. "xYZ" looks scientific (he is a scientist) and "YZ" are his initials as well!

Inside is grey, I wanted to mute the brightness of red. Red Kap Merino, grey carded merino. 220 gr altogether.

Natural Kap Merino is back!

I've got my order from Wollknoll delivered and was nicely surprised! My first orders from the supplier were a bit of shock - all wool was packed in one large cardboard box without plastic bags or any kind of rain protection. Everything was in one large heap! What a disappointment! Unfortunately I don't know any other supplier of my favorite Kap Merino so there was no choice. BUT! This time it was much better! Wool was packed in plastic bags and it was neat arrangement overall.

So I've got my natural Kap Merino at last! Being excited I used it a little bit too much and the new Kindle case has a slightly misty appearance!

Having nice weather I start to make pictures with more natural background - I think it looks very cheerful!

Fishing is going on!

After tutorial I wanted to make some things differently and made another fish.

The main details such as gills and eyes are made in a different way, some of it I like and some not so... I tried to make eyes easy way - just a soft black ball and some knitting yarn around it but really I prefer the eyes to be more prominent. Gills are OK though.

I was asked how I worked inside the fish with such a small opening. The matter is that I do work inside first just after I cut the mouth and the felt is soft yet so it could be pulled slightly. The first layer of wool is usually Kap Merino which became firm and smooth very quickly. When I start to full the felt with "all my might" there is no need to go inside it's already done in there. After fulling the felt shrink a lot and the opening become much smaller. Now I couldn't put my hand inside!

Tea Cosy Blue Meadow

My tea cosies are usually of grey and light yellow/green colours, good as a background for flowers. I always wanted to make a blue (very blue) one... And here we are! My "Blue Meadow":

New technique, new scarf!

I liked the scarf I've made during Leiko Uchi workshop but still it was not exactly what I wanted... It took me a couple of days (at least!) and now I have this:

I adore it! It's very light and nearly transparent and still has a substance and nice texture. The back side is beautiful as well! It reminds me some high quality lace, very much felt for summer days. I am very proud of myself that's why so many pictures:

This is a back side, I don't know which side i like more!

And close-ups:

I used hand-dyed (by myself) silk chiffon and hand-dyed (by Leiko) wool. The shinkage is very high approx.50%.

Turquoise Net Nuno Scarf

Being very inspired by Leiko works I started a large scarf in that technique. It's going very slowly because of it's size, I want to make full scale wrap! It will definetely take a while. So I decided to show a different scarf which I finished couple weeks ago but had no time to make pictures of it:

I have two pieces of gorgeous hand-dyed silk in blue/turquoise/purple colours and wanted to put them together in a net scarf. Some fragments of silk are nuno-felted and some are loose. I like overall effect but need to work on technique more...
